Q: When should I pay my Policy Excess?

A: In the event that your vehicle is repairable and we have authorised the repair work, you should pay the Policy Excess to the repairer upon completion of the works.

Where your vehicle is deemed beyond repair, your Policy Excess will be deducted from the settlement amount payable.

Q: Why has my total loss settlement been reduced for GST/ITC?

A: The ATO stipulates that all claims settlements must be net of Input Tax Credit (ITC) that a client is entitled. So for the examples of replacing a vehicle following a total loss, you will have already been reimbursed for the GST proportion on the vehicle purchase and any claim for replacement costs must take this into consideration.
